DaleWood Black Beauty Piglets
Pasture-Raised. Performance Selected. Purpose-Bred.
DaleWood Farms raises Black Beauty piglets for families, homesteaders, pork producers, and breeding programs. Raise your own pork, add genetics to your herd, or have DaleWood raise your pig for you.
Why Black Beauty?
Our Black Beauty line was developed from Berkshire and Meishan genetics, then refined through years of selection for animals that perform in the real world.
Maternal Ability & Piglet Vigor
Black Beauty sows are attentive mothers with strong milk production and large, healthy litters. Piglets hit the ground running.
Calm Temperament
Generations of selection for docility make these pigs easier to handle on pasture, at weaning, and throughout grow-out.
Pasture Hardiness
Built for outdoor production. These pigs thrive on forage, adapt to seasonal conditions, and hold up in real farm environments.
Pork Quality
Berkshire-influenced marbling meets efficient growth — the result is flavorful, well-structured pork that stands out at market.
Choose Your Path.
There’s more than one way to bring a DaleWood pig into your plans. Start with what you want to accomplish.
Raise Your Own Pork
Take your piglet home, raise it on your property, and manage it through processing.
Build Your Herd
Looking for gilts, boarlings, or future breeding prospects? We can help you find animals that fit your goals.
DaleWood Grow-Out
Want DaleWood pork without raising the pig yourself? We can raise your piglet through processing weight.
Before You Bring Your Piglet Home.
Raising pigs doesn’t have to be complicated, but you need the right setup before your piglet arrives.
Secure Fencing
Your pigs need fencing they respect and that you know will contain them.
Fresh Water
Provide constant access to clean, fresh water with a system your pigs can reliably use.
Shelter
Give your pigs a dry place to get out of wind, rain, summer heat, and winter weather.
Feed & Daily Care
Plan for consistent feed, daily observation, and enough time to notice when something changes.
Ready to Start With a DaleWood Piglet?
Whether you want to raise your own pork, build your herd, or have DaleWood raise your pig through our Grow-Out program, the next step is a conversation.

Want the Pork Without Raising the Pig?
DaleWood Grow-Out gives you another option. Choose a DaleWood piglet and we handle the day-to-day raising and management through finishing.
With Grow-Out, your pig stays at DaleWood Farms while we handle feeding and daily management through finishing. A $100 Grow-Out deposit starts the program. The piglet purchase, Grow-Out service, and processing are separate costs. When processing time approaches, we coordinate the processor and you complete your cut-sheet selections.
How Piglet Reservations Work.
We keep the process simple and start with a conversation so we can understand what you’re looking for.
1. Tell Us What You’re Looking For
Tell us your goals, location, quantity, and whether you’re raising for pork, breeding, or using DaleWood Grow-Out.
2. Talk With DaleWood
We’ll discuss availability, your setup, and the right path for you.
3. Reserve Your Piglet
Pickup reservations require a $50 deposit per piglet. DaleWood Grow-Out requires a $100 deposit.
4. Prepare for Pickup
Piglets may leave for pickup beginning at six weeks of age. Grow-Out pigs remain at DaleWood through finishing.

Built on Performance, Not Appearance.
A black pig alone doesn’t make a Black Beauty. Our breeding decisions are based on what an animal actually does.
Our Black Beauty line began with an Illinois state-champion Berkshire boar and nine purebred Meishan sows. Through years of selection, we retained the animals that best demonstrated the traits we wanted and developed the linebred Black Beauty boars and sows we breed today. We continue evaluating every generation for maternal ability, vigor, temperament, structure, growth, pasture hardiness, marbling, and pork quality.
Genetics give us the foundation. Performance determines what stays in the program.
